Sanganoor is a residential cum industrial area in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India.[1] Located at an altitude of 455 m above the mean sea level, the geographical coordinates of Sanganoor are 11°02'08.5"N, 76°57'19.8"E (i.e., 11.035700°N, 76.955500°E). There is an 11 km long canal or stream that passes through Sanganoor, which is unused by the public because it remained dry for decades. Restoration works of it by Coimbatore corporation, to ease the public transport of cars and two wheelers alongside, inaugurated by the CM of Tamil Nadu, in November, 2021, has been suspended due to various issues.[2] It is assumed that the running water has been blocked by Kanuvai barricade and by deep pits near Thadagam Valley area, made due to the sand removal by various unauthorised brick kilns for manufacturing of bricks.[3]

Metropolitan Development Authorities are formed in several districts of Tamil Nadu in view of speedy execution of district infrastructures and plan approvals for different constructive projects. To form Coimbatore Metropolitan Development Authority, Sanganoor is one of the 118 revenue villages of Coimbatore North Taluk as announced by Government of Tamil Nadu.[4] Sanganoor has a lot of small scale industries in which Pugazhendhi Grinder Stoneworks is of importance in that stone lamps of as tall as 12.5 are crafted and sold to various places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.[5]
