Sanjukta Parashar (born 3 October 1979)[1] is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer serving as Inspector general at the CID in Assam, India. She has served as Superintendent of police, Superintendent of police and DIG at the NIA before getting promoted as Inspector general at CID, Assam.

Early life and education

Born in Assam, Parashar's father is an engineer and her mother is a doctor.[2] Parashar graduated from Indraprastha College for Women in political science, and completed her Master's degree in international relations from JNU. She also earned MPhil and PhD.[3][4]

Police career

Parashar secured 85th rank in All India Civil Services Examination.[5] Being empaneled as Indian Police Service officer of 2006 batch, she was initially posted as Assistant commandant of Makum in 2008.[6] She also served as SP of Sonitpur district and Jorhat district.[7][8][9] She worked as SP and DIG at NIA before getting promoted as IGP.[10][11]

During her tenure at NIA, she headed the 2017 Bhopal–Ujjain Passenger train bombing investigation.[12][13][14]

Parashar is IGP at CID, Assam.[15][16]

Personal life

Parashar is married to married to Sandeep Kakkar and they have a son.[17]
