Sankar Muthusamy is an Indian born Badminton player who has won the Gold medal at the All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2016 in the U-13 Boy's Singles event. He is supported by the GoSports Foundation through the Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance Programme[1] [2] [3]
Early life and background
Sankar Muthusamy started playing badminton in 2007 at the tender age of 3 as a recreational activity and eventually moved into playing competitive tournaments in 2010. His father was a tennis player and he used to see him play on a daily basis, which instilled the spirit of sports in him. He has an elder sister who is also slowly making inroads and moving forward in the field of sports.
Career
Even though Sankar is only 13 years old now, the amount of hard work he puts into his game is worth appreciating. Although he still has to improve a lot to match the standards of his international counterparts, with age on his side, Sankar is definitely a bright prospect for the future. He’s inspired by Lin Dan and hopes he can replicate his sort of dominating game style one day. His ultimate goal is to win an Olympic medal for India in the future.[4] Sankar has already achieved plenty on the national circuit with silver medals at the 2016 All India Sub-Junior Ranking Tournament and the Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship. He also won a gold medal at the 2016 Chajji Memorial All India Sub-Jr ranking Tournament and most recently won gold in men’s singles at the U-15 All India Sub-Junior Ranking Tournament, Andhra Pradesh, 2017[5]. He is currently ranked [6]

- 2018: Semifinalist at the PEMBANGUNAN JAYA RAYA JUNIOR GRAND PRIX 2018[7]
- 2016: Gold Medal at the All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament[8]
- 2016: Silver Medal at the All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament[9]
