SATHYA Group is a South Indian conglomerate holding company that comprises of seven Strategic Business Units (SBU), viz., Retail, Information Technology, Hospitality, eCommerce, Developers, Media and Web Services. It has its headquarters in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 1983 by A. John Samuel. The company gained public recognition after establishment of its retail [1] unit across major towns in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
History
The company was established in 1983 in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu by John Samuel. It was initially set up as a small store selling electronic appliances and household articles.
In 1990, after John Samuel's demise, his son Johnson Asaria [2] took over the business at the age of 18 along with his brothers John Sathya and Charles Packiaraj. The company established its first branch in Eral, Tamil Nadu with an annual turnover of ₹2 Crores.
During the years 2000s and 2010s, the company set its focus on new business opportunities in the Hospitality and IT industries. In 2003, the company started its new business in the hospitality sector in the name of SATHYA Park and Resorts Private Limited [3] [4]. SATHYA Agencies Private Limited was incorporated on 24 April 2005 [5] in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, India. The year 2008 marked the arrival of SATHYA in the IT domain with the name SATHYA Technosoft India Private Limited.
