Satya Aditya Waiba is an Indian Nepali-language folk music producer and the son of the Hira Devi Waiba, a pioneer of Nepali folk music.[1] Waiba produces the music whilst his elder sister Navneet Aditya Waiba sings and the Nepali folk band Kutumba from Kathmandu gives music to the songs.[2][3][4][5]

Work[edit]

After the death of mother Hira Devi Waiba in 2011, Satya and Navneet teamed together and began work to revive and popularise authentic Nepali folk music, their generational family legacy.[4][6]

Waiba began work in 2015, re-arranged and re-recorded Hira Devi Waiba's iconic songs and after two years in 2017 released an album titled Ama Lai Shraddhanjali- A Tribute to Mother.[7][8] Aditya released the album at the historic venue, Patan Museum in Kathmandu, Nepal where sister Navneet performed live along with the Kutumba Band.[9][10] Most of Aditya's music is arranged by Rubin Kumar Shrestha of Kutumba. They mostly use traditional Nepali instruments like sarangi, tungna, madal, dhimey, bansuri, murchunga, panche baja, naumati baja, jhyali, nagada, sanai and jhyampta.
