Rashid Mortey (born October 1987) popularly known by his stage name Scata Bada, is a reggae/dancehall artiste and a song writer.[1] He started his musical career as a rapper in a duo but had to go solo for personal reasons. In 2014, an independent record label (Lyfstyl Entertainment) showed up and expressed interest in him and soon started working. Under this new management, Scata Bada recorded a couple of songs which included his major hit single featuring BET award winner, Sarkodie titled "Style it"[2] In the middle of the year 2016, Scata Bada became an independent artiste and started pinioning his own clique, Baddest Empire. The "Baddest Empire" constitute the fan base of Scata Bada. Scata Bada is currently under the management of Abbey Music Records.[3] He was nominated for the Discovery of the year category of the Bass Awards 2016 held on 25 December at the National Theater (Ghana).[4]

Musical style and recognition[edit]

Scata Bada often blends the local Ghanaian dialect with the Jamaican Patois and has a very strong vocal ability. He was nominated for the Discovery of the year category of the Bass Awards 2016 held on 25 December at the National Theater (Ghana).[5] He had a performance slot at the Ghana-Naija Showbiz Awards 2017 event night and his set was adjudged one of the best performances at Skyview, Lekki Coliseum.
