Schubert Avakian (Persian: شوبرت آواکیان; born 17 July 1968) is an Iranian-born Music Producer, Arranger, and Composer of Armenian ethnicity.[1] His career in the music industry has spanned more than five decades, beginning as a keyboardist for the Persian pop singer Viguen, then eventually producing, arranging, and composing songs for artists like Googoosh[2], Ebi[3], and Leila Forouhar[4].

Personal life[edit]
Avakian was born in Tehran, Iran and is of Armenian descent.[5] He moved to Germany to study music in Würzburg, Germany[6], then moved to the United States in the late 1980s, settling in Los Angeles, CA where he now lives with his wife and two children.
Career[edit]
1986–1992
After moving to Germany to study music, Avakian began performing with Viguen as a keyboardist. Soon after, he moved to the United States where he quickly began performing with multiple artists including Faramarz Asef and Bijan Mortazavi.
1992–2014
After being introduced to Leila Forouhar in 1992, Avakian became her music director and toured the world as her band leader for 13 years. Soon after joining with her, Avakian also began producing many of her songs, including Vadeh[7] and Gheseye Tou Gheseye Man[8]. He also arranged the entire album Planet of Harmony.[9]
Avakian was a member of the Persian band Black Cats from 2006 to 2010, serving as the main keyboard player and writing multiple songs for the group, while also performing in music videos[10][11] and touring for live performances around the world[12][13].
The song Persian Medley, written by Avakian and performed by Leila Forouhar, was featured in the soundtrack for the movie Blast from the Past in 1999.[14]
2014-Present
In 2014, Avakian formed an international band named Rouge in Los Angeles that is still active[15][16], performing for private events throughout the United States[17]. He later partnered in LIV Entertainment Group, which now handles bookings for Rouge.[6][16]
In 2021, Avakian was asked to be a host and judge for the Contestee Talent Discovery contest.[18][19]
