Scott Guerini
Scott Guerini is a young philanthropist from Merredin, Western Australia.[1]
Since the age of 4 he has been raising money for Telethon because he wanted to help sick babies. He learned about fundraising when he was in kindergarten.[2] His first walk was 25 km from his family’s farm to the town of Southern Cross. This feat took him almost 9 hours.[3]
In July 2013 he walked 41 kilometres in 12 hours and 40 minutes raising $17,000. [1]
In July 2015 he walked a marathon after already having raised $67,000 for the charity.[2]
By September 2017, he had walked a total of 380 kilometres and raised $ 125,000 for Telethon.[4] His most difficult walk so far was an 82 km hike through the Canadian Rockies in 2016.[3]
In 2017, Scott wrote and published a book called Did You Know You Can Change the World? All profits from the book are to go to Telethon.[5]
In 2018, he won the Commissioner for Children and Young People Participate Award for having raised more than $145,000 for Telethon through walking.[6]
In 2020 Scott walked his 11th walk to raise funds for Telethon.[7]
In his latest effort in 2021, Scott walked yet another marathon in support of his favourite cause - sick kids and babies.[8]
Scott even has his own website: https://www.scottsgreatwalk.com/. You can even book him to speak at an event via his website.
