Scott Von Doviak
Scott Von Doviak (born 1967) is a novelist and pop culture writer. He reviews television for The Onion's The A.V. Club and is a former film critic for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. His first book, Hick Flicks: The Rise and Fall of Redneck Cinema, is an in-depth examination of the 1970s movie subgenre known as "hixploitation." He is the author of two additional nonfiction books, If You Like The Terminator and Stephen King Films FAQ. His debut novel Charlesgate Confidential was published by Hard Case Crime in September 2018. He lives in Austin, Texas.
Von Doviak, a 1989 graduate of Emerson College, also starred in the 1996 independent feature film Apocalypse Bop and appeared in the 2000 indie feature What I Like About You, which he co-wrote with co-stars Marie Black and Ryan Wickerham.
