Scratch Mapping Community
The Scratch Mapping Community, or SMC, is an online community of animated mappers that make animated mapping projects using Scratch and communicate through the Scratch Mapping Community Wiki on Fandom.[1] The SMC also shares their mapping projects through the Scratch Mapping Community (Studio) on Scratch.[2] As of 11 November 2021, the Scratch Mapping Community Wiki has 562 pages.[1]
History
The early history of mapping on Scratch, which predates the SMC, began on 28 February 2012 when the Scratch account known as "harry_hello123" published the mapping project of WW3.[3] Another proposed start to mapping on Scratch is dated to 8 June 2014 when the Scratch user "game_heavan" published future Europe map 1.[4][5]
At the end of 2015, several mappers on Scratch came together to create "Mapperdonia", a Scratch studio for mapping projects.[6][5] This is generally marked as the start of a Scratch mapping community, though it wasn't the Scratch Mapping Community.
