Sean Charles Ewing (born January 21, 1981) is an American engineer, politician, and councilmember for the City of Mebane, North Carolina.[1] Elected in November 2019, he assumed office on December 2, 2019.

Early life and education[edit]

Sean C. Ewing was born in Elyria, Ohio on January 21, 1981 to John and Sharon Ewing. Sean was raised in Wooster, Ohio. His father was an Engineer and his Mother work in the local school system.

Professional career[edit]

From 1999 to 2005, Sean served Active Duty in the United States Air Force. From 2005 to 2014, Sean served in the Air National Guard and reached the Non-Commissioned Officer rank of Technical Sergeant. After serving in Active Duty, Sean used his Montgomery GI Bill to get his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University.

In addition to his Collegiate studies, he was part of several extracurricular programs at the Center for Automotive Research (CAR). These programs served as a foundation for his support in hybrid and green automotive technologies. Programs are CAR that Sean was part of includes Baja SAE, Challenge X, minor support for the Buckeye Bullet, and co-founded[2] the Buckeye Electric Motorcycle Race Team[3] (now known as Buckeye Current).

Upon graduation, Sean was employed as a Quality Engineer at Denso Automotive where he worked to mitigate and reduce manufacturing defects for passenger vehicles. Sean currently is employed as an Engineer at Volvo Group Trucks where he rolls out new electrical components in North America semi-trucks.
