The luigino is the local currency of the unrecognised microstate the Principality of Seborga.

The luigino was first minted in 1666, however many years later after the King of France protested against the currency Jean d'Abric who was in charge of minting the coins was accused of manufacturing false coins, to which after minting was suspended and didn't continue. In 1995 Prince Giorgio I declared the re-establishment of the luigino, and coins and now notes are still minted today, usually for specific events only.

History

The modern luigino was first minted during the rule Prince Giorgio I and came in denominations of 5c, 10c, 15c, 50c, 1, 2, 7.50, all minted in the 1990s.

Once Prince Marcello I ascended the throne a new set was minted with denominations of 1, 2 and 2.50 luigini.

Finally after Princess Nina ascended the throne a new 1.50 luigni coin was minted in 2021 as well as a 3 luigini note in 2023.
