Secret Societies is a graphic history about the formation of Italian-American organized crime in the United States. It presents the early stages of the American Mafia based around the first bosses Giuseppe Morello and Ignazio Lupo.[1]

Summary[edit]

The book covers the period between c. 1900 – 1925, including the outbreak of the Black Hand in New York City during 1903. The publication also covers the Barrel Murder in which Giuseppe Morello was captured after a killing in the Lower East Side, as well as the tale of Joseph Petrosino an NYPD officer who fought orgranized crime before his murder in Sicily in 1909.[2]
