Introduction
Sen Yetim Emassan (in English: You are not an orphan, in Russian:ты не сирота) is a Soviet-era film based on a true story.[1]
Origin of the film's plot
World War 2 began, and the Soviet Union fought with Nazi Germany.[2] Because of the war, many of the children's parents were killed by Nazis.[2] These orphan children were sent to another Soviet Union territory – to former Uzbekistan – by the USSR.[3] Every Uzbek family had to shelter one orphan child, but one family adopted 15 children.[4] This film is based on this true story.[1][5]
Plot Synopsis
A foster Uzbek family cares for 15 (in some sources 14[6]) orphan children who have diverse ethnic backgrounds like Jewish, Russian, German, etc.[7] However, this family's own child is a soldier and fights on the WW2 front line.[8]
