From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Serhii Basok (born February 3, 1987, Kyiv, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian film and theater actor. He is known for his leading roles in the television series Za vitrinoy, Stomatolog, and Z Kym Povedeshsya, as well as the historical feature film Tayemna Operatsiya.[1]

Biography

Basok was born in Kyiv into a family of specialists: his mother is an economist, and his biological father was a technologist who died during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia.[2] He has a stepfather, two brothers, and a sister.[3]

Since childhood, he dreamed of becoming a professional footballer. In 1996, he entered the Zmina-Obolon Youth Football School and graduated in 2004 with a second-level sports qualification. However, a serious knee injury forced him to end his sports career at the age of 17.[3]

He then entered Kyiv Slavic University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics and Entrepreneurship and a master's degree in Administrative Management. During his studies, he worked as a waiter, bartender, and purchasing assistant.[4]

In 2011, he became a finalist of the reality show Masha ta modeli, which sparked his interest in acting. He studied acting with Volodymyr Horianskyi and Natalia Varley.[1]

Later that year, he entered the Moscow Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting Ostankino (MITRO) under the mentorship of Vladimir Mirzoev. Due to political pressure, the entire course was transferred to the Moscow Academy of Entrepreneurship under the Government of Moscow, where the new Institute of Theatrical Arts was established. Basok continued his studies under Vladimir Mirzoev's guidance[2].[5]

In 2015, he graduated, defending his diploma performance Pavel I. Later, he entered the Academy of Cinematic and Theatrical Arts of Nikita Mikhalkov, graduating in 2016 with the production Metamorphoses. While in Russia, Basok worked with renowned directors such as Nikita Mikhalkov and Fyodor Bondarchuk.[1]

In 2016, due to his pro-Ukrainian stance after the annexation of Crimea, he left Russia and returned to Ukraine. He founded the startup ShortList, aimed at modernizing the Ukrainian film industry, and became an active member of Ukrainian film industry unions.[6]

Career

Since 2017, Basok has actively worked in Ukrainian cinema and television. His breakthrough role was as Andrii in Za vitrinoy (2019), which gained over 14 million views on YouTube.[7]

He also starred in Stomatolog, Tayemna Operatsiya, and appeared in prominent roles in Z Kym Povedeshsya, Vybir Materi, Sudya (TV series), and the film Attraction (2017 film) directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk.[5]

In 2022, he joined the Kyiv Territorial Defense during the full-scale Russian invasion.
