Seymur Rahim oghlu Nasirov (Azerbaijani: Seymur Rahim oğlu Nəsirov, born 1976) is a researcher-scientist, chairman of the Union of Diaspora Organizations of Azerbaijan in Egypt, laureate of the Taraggi Medal.[1]

Biography[edit]

Seymur Nasirov was born in Şuvi village of Astara District in 1976. In 1994, he graduated from the Shuvi village A. Ibrahimov secondary school, in 1998 from the Baku Islamic University, and in 2002 from the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language of the Al-Azhar University. In 2006, after four years of study at the Egyptian Fatwa Office, he was the first among the countries of the former USSR to be allowed to issue fatwas. In 2011, he completed his master's degree in Arabic language and literature at the American Open University in Cairo. The master's thesis was a study of the history of the study of Arabic language and literature in Azerbaijan.[2]

In 2020, he completed his doctorate in Arabic language and literature at the American Open University in Cairo. The research topic was "Efforts of Azerbaijani scientists in the service of Arab science". S. Nasirov's scientific work was led by senior scientists invited from Al-Azhar University.[2]

He is married and has two children.[2]

Career[edit]

Since 2003, he has been leading students from foreign countries to study in Egypt. Since 2007, he is the CEO of Halga Foundation for Heritage Revitalization and Local Development, of which he is one of the founders. Since 2008, he has been the head of foreign students' affairs at the "Gawafil al-Khair wa al-Amal" charity society. Since 2011, he is the head of foreign students affairs of Misir al-Khair foundation. Since 2017, he has been a teacher of the Azerbaijani language at the Faculty of Literature of Cairo University. In 2017, he was the chairman of "Vatanparvar" - the Union of Diaspora Organizations of Azerbaijan in Egypt, which he founded. Since 2019, he is the chairman of the "Egypt-Azerbaijan Friendship Society", of which he is one of the initiators and founders.[3]
