Shafiq Akbar (شفیق اکبر) is a British-Pakistani real estate entrepreneur[1] and trainer.[2] As as founder of IMARAT Group,[1] he runs Graana.com and Agency21.[3][4] He is known for making IMARAT Group Pakistan’s first home-grown unicorn.[1][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Shafiq Akbar was born on 1 March 1976 in Pakistan.[6] He joined the Pakistan Army but left it during training[7] and moved to the United Kingdom, where he pursued further education,[7] graduating from the Queen Mary University of London in 2012[4] and the University of Cambridge in 2015.[4]

Career[edit]

Shafiq Akbar started his career in 1998 by joining Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd as Assistant Marketing Manager.[1] In 2007, he joined Douglas Allen, an estate agency in London, as a senior financial advisor[1] and then joined Hotspots Management UK Ltd.[1] He was a director of Homzz Investments and Stepsons Estate Agents.[6]
