Shanbhog
Shanbhog (Kannada: ಶಾನುಭೋಗ ) is a surname from the Indian state of Karnataka. This surname is used by the Brahmin community. Shanbhog was the title given to a person who was responsible for maintaining village accounts, revenue collection, law, and order. This title was given in the administrative office at the time of the Vijayanagara Empire and Mysore's Wadiyar Dynasty. They coordinated with the officials of the state for the collection of taxes and other administrative duties. Earlier in villages, this was a valuable and reputed designation for a person and required full-time involvement from him.
