Shaun Brown (politician)
Shaun Brown is a Virginia politician who has run twice for Congress. A self-described progressive, she was a delegate for Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic National Convention[1] and, in her run for Congress that year, obtained 38.5 percent of the vote in Virginia's 2nd congressional district.[2] In 2018, she ran as an independent but was removed from the ballot after some of her petition signatures were found to be invalid.[3] In May 2019, a staffer for former Congressman Scott Taylor was indicted for fraud in connection to Brown's nomination petitions.[4] Brown was sentenced to three years in federal prison.[5] She plans to run for U.S. Congress again in 2020.[6]
