Shonali Sabherwal is a celebrity macrobiotic nutritionist, and the founder of the brand Soulfood which has been a part of the macrobiotic culture in India since 2006.
Early life[edit]
Sabherwal discovered macrobiotic diets when her father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and she started looking for alternative ways to help him fight the disease. Along with her mother, she first trained with Dehradun-based Mona Schwartz.[1] Even after the death of her father, she continued exploring the topics of food, health, and wellness, by researching its perceived effects on physical and mental ailments. In 2005, she made a career shift from marketing research to macrobiotics.[2]
Career and education[edit]
Sabherwal is India's first certified and qualified counselor and instructor in macrobiotics from the Kushi Institute, Becket, Massachusetts, US. She has a Master of Arts in Economics from Mumbai University and a Master of Arts in Marketing Research from Marquette University Milwaukee.[3] She worked as a marketing research professional for 12 years with MRAS Dun & Bradstreet, Pathfinders, Lintas and finally with AC Nielsen before turning to macrobiotics. Shonali also did a course in 'Solomon Yogalates' from Louise Solomon in Byron Bay, Australia, and is also the first Solomon Yogalates teacher in India.
She was one of the recipients of the Times of India SheUnltd Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2019, in the category of food. She also received the Vogue Best Nutritionist Award in 2020.

Sabherwal has published four books: The Beauty Diet: Eat Your Way to a Fab New You (2012), The Love Diet (2014), The Detox Diet (2017) and Vipassana: The Timeless Secret To Meditate and Be Calm (2021).[4][5]
Professional life[edit]
Sabherwal runs a catering service with macrobiotic health meals and offers macrobiotic consultations and workshops on diet and lifestyle. She is on the board of Ecole Mondiale World School and has worked with Green Acres Academy in Mumbai. She also conducts cooking classes and produces health products for her clients.[6]
