Sam Kwabena Safo Junior (born 20 September 1993), better known as Showbezzy or Showboy, is an award-winning rapper and musician from Ghana^[1] and a controversial figure in the Ghanaian Music Industry. He is popularly known as one of the co-founders of AMG Record Label which produced Ghanaian sensational rapper Medikal.^[2] Showbezzy is currently serving a six-year jail term in the US for stabbing a man known as ‘Junior’.^[3]

Early life and education

Showbezzy was born in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana to Ghanaian parents, where he had his elementary education before moving to Presbyterian Senior High, Accra-Legon Accra. After his father's death in 2015, he joined his mother who lives in Maryland, US.^[4]

Music career

Showbezzy began to pursue a career in music after falling out with his best friend Criss Waddle, founder of AMG record label. He has released more than twenty singles since then. He won the Ghana Entertainment Awards for Best New Act GH/USA 2018 and International Artiste of the year at the 2018 Eastern Music Awards.^[5]^[6]^[7]

Controversies and Legal issues

Showbezzy is popularly known for his beef and feud with several artists from AMG records and their associates including award-winning rapper Medikal and CEO of AMG Record Label Criss Waddle, with a few diss songs to his credit.^[8]^[9]^[10] In 2019, Showbezzy was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery after he stabbed a man named Junior, a close friend of Ghana's multi award-winning Dance hall Artist Shatta Wale, who he claimed tried to attack him inside his home in the US.^[11] He was found guilty and is currently serving a six-year jail term.^[12]
