Shubham Korade (born 16 March 2005) is an Indian chess player. He first gained popularity in 2017 as a National Chess Player of India.
Shubham has won many awards in his career, including "Best chess player award" in open chess tournaments organized by Nipani Utkarsh Foundation. He has won fifteen more such prizes in other open tournaments and age-category tournaments at Belagavi, Sangli, Ichalkaranji, Sadalga, Raibag, Janwad, Hubli, Bangalore, and many more in India. In addition to open tournaments, Shubham also participated in various Cluster-Level, Regional-Level and National Level Chess Meets organized by NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti). He was selected for the SGFI Chess Meet at Warangal, India in 2017. He, with his brother Soham Korade, has created many videos on YouTube related to music; such as Piano Tutorials, etc.[1]
JNV Gandhinagar, Gujarat honoured him with the National Chess Meet certificate, for getting selection for the SGFI-Level[2]
He lives in Nipani, Karnataka, India.
Childhood
Shubham Korade was born in Nipani, Karnataka, in South India. His father Ganesh Korade, is a lecturer, and his mother, Savita Korade, is a lecturer too. Shubham was initially named Karthik. In English, Shubham means "Auspicious".
Shubham was a student of International Public School, Chikodi. He later attended Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Belagavi[3]. He has an elder brother, Soham. His mother had a keen interest in computers. She had some influence in Shubham's chess career because she always insisted that he should "win the game."
Chess Career
2012-2013
He first began playing as an Under-8 age category chess player in open tournaments. During these years, he would not get prizes. But his brother Soham would get prizes.
2013-2015
He then began practicing with his brother Soham Korade. They both started practicing Chess Openings online. His brother wrote JNVST (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test) and got selected for JNV in the year 2014. Subsequently, Shubham too got selected in it.
2015-present
As of now (October 2017), he is practicing for the SGFI Chess Meet, which is going to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Hanamkonda, Warangal which is in the state of Telangana, South India. He is also studying in eighth grade at JNV Belagavi. Occasionally, when they come home on vacations, he and his brother Soham create videos of their piano songs and upload them to YouTube. He also participates frequently in open chess tournaments locally.
