Sidewalk 1
Sidewalk is a social media smartphone application that was launched in 2020. It is available for iOS and Android and it allows people to talk with others within a 15-mile radius. It is similar to the discontinued app Yik Yak, in that they both allow users to chat within close proximity of each other. It also has similarities to Snapchat, as the messages are deleted once you leave the chat radius.

On June 24th 2020, Indiana software engineer Quentin Lintz posted a question to the Reddit community r/AskReddit, saying "Would you use a chat app that let you talk to people within 1 mile of you, and when you left the 1 mile radius it would delete the chat log?"[1] After some positive feedback, he made similar posts on some other communities, one of which got over 2.8k votes.[2] He created a Discord server to communicate and get ideas from future patrons of the app while he worked on it.
On July 17th 2020, the app is to be released on the Google Play Store as well as the App Store.
