Silence and Light is an American modern hard rock band formed in New York City, in 2017. The band consists of former United States special operations veterans, Brad Thomas (guitar & composition), Jason Everman (guitar), Fred Cowell (vocals), Tyson Stahl (bass) and Brandon Lundeen (drums). Their music encompasses a range of topics drawing from each member’s unique life experiences, both in and out of the military. Their sound is reminiscent of past alternative grunge acts such as Alice in Chains, Aerosmith and Stone Temple Pilots combined with a modern edge.[1] [2]
History
2017-2019
In May of 2017, the band Silence & Light was formed after Brad Thomas met Jason Everman in New York. By July of 2017, the band had a full lineup with Everman playing guitar. The band met in person for the first time in January 2018, and over the next few months began writing material for their first album. In addition to their philanthropic goals, the band found playing music together to be therapeutic. It helped them deal with the mental and physical aftermath of war.
Their album began recording in January 2019 in Van Nuys, California and by October of 2019 the first song had been released, with the full album being released in December of 2019. The album was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Josh Gudwin and studio engineer Bil Lane. The band is committed to helping and providing their profits to help members of the Special Operations Community, the Military and First Responders.[3]
