Simão Pedro Fonseca Sabrosa (born 31 October 1979), known as Simão, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a winger. Born in Constantim, Vila Real, he is regarded as one of Portugal's best wingers of his generation.
Career
Simão is a product of the Sporting CP youth academy. He played for several of Europe's top clubs, including Barcelona, Benfica, and Atlético Madrid. He was a highly influential player at Benfica, where he served as club captain for several years and led the team to a Primeira Liga title in 2004–05. He also won the UEFA Cup with Valencia in 2004.
- International Career: Simão was a long-serving member of the Portugal national team, representing his country in two FIFA World Cups (2006 and 2010) and two UEFA European Championships (2004 and 2008). He earned 85 caps and scored 22 goals for Portugal.
