Located in Midview City, the Singapore Coffee Association (SCA) is the official trade association representing coffee retailers, coffee traders, coffee roasters, coffee house owners, equipment manufacturers and coffee distributors operating in Singapore. The association was founded in the 1950s by coffee traders, and currently has 35 members.

Goals[edit]

The climate of Singapore is not very suitable for growing coffee,[1] hence, the goal for SCA is not to promote manufacturing of coffee in Singapore but to promote Singapore as a trading hub for specialty coffee.[2][3] As part of the collaboration, they have established a SCA-ACF Barista certification program that aims to further the education and training of the barista craft with a certification recognized across ASEAN.[4]

Partnerships[edit]

The SCA works with the ASEAN Coffee Federation (ACF) to develop standards on different types of coffee and established an auction mechanism to connect coffee growers and bidders from countries around the world.[5] To encourage coffee companies to tap on e-commerce, SCA signed a memorandum of understanding with Shopee to establish Digital Singapore Coffee Week.[6][7]

Awards and recognition[edit]

The SCA holds the annual Singapore National Coffee Championships (SNCC) series which includes the Singapore National Barista Championship (SNBC)[8] and the Singapore National Brewers Cup (SNBC).
