[1] Skin of God is a grunge-metal band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Endowed with a style as divine as the culture that birthed the name, Skin Of God transcends the existing realm of music and brings each listener into their realm of musical deity. The four members of the band presently known as Skin Of God came to be through various trial and error replacements, not unlike the tedious circumstances all musicians vow to accept. Theses four, unlike those that continue to search, have combined to form a closest of fit ensemble characterized only by words that describe the indescribable.

In 1993 the band began a gradually accumulating wave throughout the Philadelphia club scene. They had played every major club in the city, and their return was always anxiously awaited.

Through the bands many changes, the last being the addition of the band's lead vocalist - William Olive. His arrival completed what had become a creation of the rarest and most sought after form. William's vocal interpretation eradicates the monotony of typical vocalists by mastering the art of tongue-lashing.

Skin of God's songs vary in style as well as author - each member contributes to the fusion of style. The lyrics traveling on William's voice are accompanied by a trilogy of sound.

Dave Tronieri, rooted in Skin of God's prelude, constructs the music's rhythm/lead guitar section. Versatility, combined with primal ability, defines the ethereal sound Dave's strings produce.

Frank Steinmiller entered Skin of God when the sound searched its creators. Beneath the spawned vines of music lie the chords of a sound unmatched and unapproachable. Frank paves the foundation that thick tones of composition balance upon.

Chris Olmi conducts the band with his tribal jazz-rooted strength. Heavy-handedly beating his drums as they screech in agony, creating the mood that accompanies and surpasses sound, Chris is the explosion that shatters the given norm and allows this god's life to seep through.

The band's humble beginnings had been long-surpassed, although not forgotten, since the days of basements and neighborhood bars. They had transgressed the Philadelphia club scene and had entered the mainstream in various other states up and down the East coast. Written words do not have the capacity to carry sound. And sound, just as limited in ability, overflows what Skin of God creates each time chords meet undulating beats and voice. Seen only in the sight of the blind, just as that which is seared into the Skin-of-a-god, the pained pleasure of word-eating-song is not seen, it is felt... thus bringing into being the esoteric phenomenon that is Teonanacatl (Skin of God).

Towards the end of 1996 the band had broken up due to personal reasons. As of June 2nd, 2018, after 22 years, they have reconvened and are currently writing and recording in the studio.
