Slabovia, also known as The United Slabovian Empire was host[1][2] to MicroCon 2019[3][4][5]. The third Bi-Annual North American gathering of Micronations. Slabovia is a claimed micronation founded by George C. Bragg, Patrick Goddard, Rankin MacGillivray, and David Yarker in 1984. Slabovia claims to be a nation but is currently not recognized as a country by the United Nations or any major government. In 2015[6][7][8][9][10][11] & 2017[12] delegates from Slabovia attended MicroCon.[12] The delegation from Slabovia lead by King George 2.0[13][12] was featured on Vice News when they attended MicroCon 2015.

History[edit]

King George 2.0 of Slabovia.

The founders of Slabovia were all students attending high school at the Canadian Forces Base Lahr located in Lahr, Germany. The origins of Slabovia can be traced to those ridiculous questions that teachers used to ask in early high school, like "an apple costs $3.50 in Outer Slabovia where the tax rate is 21%. What is the total tax payable on a baker's dozen of apples?" By grade 11 the founders had figured out that there was no Slabovia and set about creating one so that such questions could be contested (which never actually worked).

Details of Slabovia's entertaining and poorly documented history can be read at Slabovia's official Website: slabovia.com.

MicroCon 2019[edit]

Following in the footsteps of Molossia[14] and Ruritania[15], Slabovia was selected to host MicroCon 2019 (the 3rd Global Conference for Micronations) from July 19–21, 2019.[16] The conference was held in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. More information on this event can be found at the MicroCon2019 web site.
