Small Boss (Born October 21, 1994) is an American Hip-Hop Recording Artist, Songwriter, and Record Producer.[1] [2]

Biography[edit]

Born in Mineola, New York on October 21, 1994, Small Boss aka The Don, or Small Boss The Don, became obsessed with music at an early age. As his taste developed, he discovered Hip-Hop and Rap to be his passion. By the age of 7, he had begun freestyling and writing his own lyrics.

Small Boss recorded his first song in 2009, entitled “Burn It Down.” In 2010, he released his first project, The Purple Album. Later that same year he proceeded to form "The Black Tie Affiliates” with a group of friends. The group released 5 mix-tapes between 2010-2012.

In 2011, Small Boss started production under the name Black Tie Records and went on to incorporate the company in 2013.[3]

Over the years Small Boss has released 10 musical efforts. Adding two new installments to his catalog in 2018, self-titled EP "Small Boss" as his 11th body of work, and Single - I Been Told.[4] [5] [6]

In 2019, Small Boss has spoken on working to release new music [7] [8] and on June 28th it was announced he would appear as a featured artist on Nashville Recording Artist Curtis Braly's country single One Day.[9] The pair debuted the new single live on Fox owned Television Station FOX26/KRIV (TV) show The Isiah Factor hosted by Isiah Carey on July 11th, 2019. [10] The song was released the following day on Friday, July 12th.

On November 7th, 2019 Small Boss released a music video for his previously unreleased song "Childhood Dreams". The Video was released exclusively on VEVO without any prior announcement or promotion and marked Small Boss' first solo release of 2019.[11] The video was met with positive reviews immediately following the release, earning a 4.5 out of 5 from LAONLOCK.com who described the lyrics as "An appropriately Lo-fi Hip-Hop flow straight up calling out society for the continued love affair with technology...a piece that strikes a perfect balance between art and entertainment — without sacrificing something worthwhile to say.”. [11] The Song was recorded in Roslyn, NY at Sabella Studios and was mastered in New York City at The Cutting Room Studios. The visuals cut together cell phone clips of Small Boss performing the song on tour in several different venues.[12] Small Boss expressed his intent on making a song and video that felt real, saying of the visuals "I wanted to make something that feels real. This is the first song I’ve released in a little while and Childhood Dreams says something. It stands for something.". At the time of the release, Small Boss also made mention of a new soon to be released album.[13]
