Adesola "Sola" Adepetun is a Nigerian lawyer, Founding Partner of Adepetun, Caxton-Martins, Agbor & Segun (ACAS-LAW) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited.[1]
Personal life and Education[edit]
Adesola studied Law at the University of Lagos graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1982. He went on to obtain Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1984. He was previously employed by O.O Koleoso & Co and served as Principal partner in Sola Adepetun & Co. .[2]
In April 1991 as a partnership, Sola Adepetun and Afolabi Caxton-Martins founded ACAS-LAW.[3][4][5] He is married with children.
Career[edit]
Adesola is a Senior Partner in the Energy and Project Finance Group of ACAS-LAW working in a range of energy related contractual, regulatory, finance and investment matters.[6]
In September 2018, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited having joined the board in April 2014 as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Adesola previously served as a member of the Oil & Gas Sector Reform Implementation Committee (“OGIC”) of the National Council of Privatisation producing the first draft of Nigeria's Petroleum Industry Bill which sought to provide a legal framework for restructuring the petroleum industry in Nigeria. .[1]

Adesola sits on the Board of Governors of the Petroleum Club Lagos, Governing Council of the Bank Directors Association of Nigeria and as a non-executive board member of The Foreshore School. He is a member of the International Bar Association Section on Energy and Natural Resources Law and the Nigerian Bar Association.[7]
In 2019, he was on the “Who’s Who Legal” The guide to the world's leading financial and corporate law firm and is ranked as a thought leader and one of the world’s foremost legal practitioners in Energy and oil & gas sector having been previously listed in 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions.[8]
Adesola is rated as ‘Highly regarded’ by IFLR 1000 and has been listed as "one of the leading Nigerian Energy and Natural Resources Lawyers" by the Chambers Global Guide, the World's Leading Lawyers. He is ranked as an elite 'Leading Individual' in Energy & Natural Resources- "The Legal 500".[9]
