Somali Social Unity Party (SSUP) (Somali: Xisbiga Midnimada Bulshada Soomaaliyeed, Arabic: حزب الوحدة الاجتماعية الصومالية) is a social democratic political party in Somalia. Founded in 2004 by Yassin Mahi Mallin. SSUP is registered by the National Independent Elections Commission (NIEC)[1] and was identified by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) that it is based in Katrineholm, Sweden in an assessment of Somali political parties in order to determine the current status and needs of emerging political parties in Somalia. The party operates both in Somalia and abroad. Its branches are present in Sweden, Norway, and Kenya.
In May 2020, Ethiopia renewed the party's license.[2]
