Sophie Dow Donelson (born 1980) is an American author.[1], journalist, speaker, and home design expert.

Career[edit]

Donelson was editor in chief of House Beautiful[2] magazine from 2015-2019[3][4]. She also held editor positions at Elle Decor[5] and Hampton Cottages & Gardens[6] among other magazines. She has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal[7], Martha Stewart Living[8]. In 2020 she wrote an op-ed for the New York Times[9] about why the pandemic offers an opportunity to rethink our approach to home decor.

Donelson's wrote a book, Style Secrets: What Every Room Needs was published in 2017[10] and has contributed to The Business of Design [11] and Flip For Decorating[12]

Personal Life[edit]

Donelson is married[13] to urbanist and journalist Greg Lindsay. She lives with her partner and two children in Montréal.
