Soundsphere magazine
Soundsphere is a music and culture website and magazine focusing on mainly alternative arts news, reviews, and features, supporting artists in the North of England, and worldwide.
History[edit]
The site is an editorially independent publication that was started by journalist Dom Smith in 2008 and is now run by a team of other journalists with a worldwide team of freelancers. There were three print editions: One in 2010[1], which had Placebo on the cover, and also feature interviews with Paradise Lost, Gary Numan and Rammstein, a second in 2011[2] (featuring Enter Shikari, Patrick Stump, Pendulum, Frank Turner and more) and a third in 2013[3] featuring the likes of Asking Alexandria on the cover, The Gaslight Anthem and Halestorm.
The site is built around live reviews, album reviews and interviews, and has supported the likes of The 1975[4] and Yungblud[5] since the beginning of their careers, but also features content centring around wrestling, pop culture, comic books and movies with the likes of Michael E. Uslan[6], Dynamo (magician)[7], Ric Flair[8], Mick Foley[9], Drew McIntyre[10], Crispin Glover[11] and others.
Soundsphere has been featured on Blabbermouth.net for interviewing Joey Jordison[12] and Filter (band)[13], and on Digital Spy for interviewing Bill Goldberg[14].
The site's editor, Dom Smith has Cerebral Palsy, and won the National Diversity Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence in 2012[15] (Disability Category) for his work on Soundsphere, and was also nominated as one of the Hundred Happiest People[16] in the Country by the Independent on Sunday in 2013. Dom has also written for WhatCulture[17], The Quietus[18], Metro (website)[19], Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship and others.
