Sparkling Society is a game development company that creates games for mobile devices. It was founded in 2013 in the Netherlands by Mark Peters (CEO) and Edwin Morren (CTO).

As of the beginning of May 2015, there were more than a million daily user sessions for Sparkling Society games.[1]

History

Edwin Morren started developing games in his attic. His first (Android) app game was called: "City Island". Mark Peters joined him and they started Sparkling Society together.

When it was first released, City Island was only available for Android devices.

After launching City Island, the company launched further versions – a premium version, City Island Premium (June 2013) and City Island Winter Edition (September 2013). Further releases followed based on the airport: City Island: Airport (May 2013) and City Island Airport 2 (July 2014).

Games and partnerships

In late 2013, Sparkling Society started a partnership with Innovatic, another company from the Netherlands. Together, they brought City Island to iOS devices and developed more new games in Unity. They have currently published these games:[2]

  1. City Island 1 (2013)
  2. City Island: Winter Edition (2013)
  3. City Island (Premium) (2013)
  4. City Island: Airport (2013)
  5. City Island: Airport Asia (2013)
  6. City Island: Airport 2 (2014)
  7. City Island 2 (2013)
  8. City Island 3 (2014)
  9. Battle Empire: Roman Wars (2014)

  11. City Island 4 Basic (2016)
  12. Paradise Island Sim

Since June 2015, a number of their games have been made available on Windows Phones.[citation needed]

In 2013, they also started a partnership with Smartion[3] to distribute their games in China.
