The Spatio-economic Development Record (SDR) journal published from New Delhi, India ran between 1994-2018 as an independent publication in the field of urban and regional planning. The journal published research findings and field experiences alongside reviews, opinions, policies, programmes and trends.

History (1994-2018)[edit]

In 1994, Spatio-economic Development Record (SDR) published its first issue for March-April from New Delhi, India. The academic journal published independently with contributions from public officials, academics and private consultants working in the field of Urban and Regional Planning. The title Spatio-economic Development Record, with acronym SDR recognized the need for integrating social and economic development with spatial planning efforts.

The registration process for setting up the journal in 1993, involved due formalities with Registrar of News Papers, India for allotment of RNI No. and Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre, New Delhi for assignment of ISSN before starting publication of the journal. In 2018, the journal ceased production after completing 25 years of its publication[2]

Contributions[edit]

The journal published conference proceedings, field experiences and research findings in Urban and Regional Planning and related disciplines. [3]. The journal is widely cited in books [4] [5]and archived in libraries of premier architectural institutions of India [6]. [7]
