2017 - 2018 Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar and Tamilnadu Opinion Polls[edit]

Following the demise of the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK split into two factions. One faction was led by former chief minister O.Panneerselvam, while the other was led by then AIADMK general secretary V.K.Sasikala and T.T.V.Dhinakaran. Sasikala was elected as Legislative Party leader of AIADMK. But the Supreme Court convicted her in D.A Case. Following this, she surrendered before the Bangalore Parappana Agrahara jail officer, after announcing that T.T.V.Dhinakaran would lead the party. Soon after the conviction of Sasikala, Election Commission announced that polling will be held at Dr.Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency on April 12, 2017. Following the announcement of the election date, Spick Media started its work to conduct opinion poll at Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency. The AIADMK contested as two factions, the AIADMK Amma Faction and AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma Faction. On April 7, 2017, IT investigators raided homes of health minister C.Vijayabaskar and actor-turned-politician R.Sarath Kumar. It was then announced that the voters were bribed to vote in favor of the AIADMK Amma Faction. Due to this, the election commission cancelled the bye-election to the Dr.Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency. [3] Spick Media announced that it would drop the opinion poll process in half as the election was canceled.

On April 2017, T.T.V.Dhinakaran was arrested by the Delhi Police for trying to bribe the Election Commissioner to get the election symbol.[4] Following the arrest of T.T.V.Dhinakaran, the AIADMK Amma Faction was led by the then Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswamy. As the chaos in the AIADMK Amma Faction continued, senior ministers supporting Edappadi K.Palaniswamy announced that they would sideline V.K.Sasikala and T.T.V.Dhinakaran. They also announced that AIADMK Amma Faction will join with the O.Panneerselvam led AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction to get back the party's symbol that was frozen by the Election Commission. Following the merger of the two factions, the election commission alloted the two leaf symbol to the Edappadi K.Palaniswamy and O.Panneerselvam-led faction. [5] The day after the AIADMK symbol was allotted to O.Panneerselvam's faction, the Election Commission of India re-announced the election date for Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency. The AIADMK announced its Presidium Chariman Madhusudhanan as their candidate, while Marudhu Ganesh contested on behalf of DMK. T.T.V.Dhinakaran, who was expelled from the AIADMK, contested as an independent. Spick Media conducted an opinion poll to find out who has a chance of winning in the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency and published its result on December 2017. [6]

After winning at the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency, T.T.V.Dhinakaran started a new political party called Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam in March 2018 and said he would revive the AIADMK through AMMK.[7] Following that, Spick Media conducted a poll to find out what kind of impact will Dhinakaran's new party have in the upcoming elections at Tamil Nadu.
