Stampack
Stampack is a commercial CAE-simulation software with integrated pre- and postprocessor, which validates sheet metal forming processes using the finite element method, without the user needing knowledge of finite elements. Stampack is used in the automotive, aircraft, packaging and household industries.[1] The software is particularly popular in Germany in small and medium-sized toolmaking companies and in the Japanese automotive industry.
Fields of application
Stampack can be used to simulate the forming processes of deep drawing, ironing, stamping, stretch forming, forming of thick sheet metal and hydroforming of multi-chamber profiles. [2] In addition to the usual simulation with shell elements in the field of forming technology, Stampack also masters the simulation with solid elements. This is particularly advantageous in the case of high stresses and strains in the thickness direction.[3]
Products
Stampack is marketed in two different commercial products.
- Stampack Xpress: An easy-to-use straight-line forming simulation that can simulate all forming processes running on a press, i.e. it is suitable for progressive die and transfer die processes[4]. The focus of the software lies on the simple usability of the software.[5]
- Stampack Advanced: Includes all application areas of the Stampack solver and the possibility to edit the finite element meshes. The software focuses on comprehensive flexibility in the field of metal forming.[6]
Functionality
The Stampack user interface is based on the universal pre- and post-processor GiD[7] and uses a parallelized dynamic solver with explicit time integration, that masters both shell and volume elements. Particularly noteworthy is that Stampack uses a ductile failure criterion for the volume simulation that includes stresses and strains in all three spatial directions for the damage analysis.[3] This distinguishes Stampack from the classic failure analysis using the sheet metal deformation curve. For the springback compensation Stampack additionally contains an implicit solver. The material suppliers Voestalpine and Bilstein provide the user with their material data in Stampack.[5]
Distributors
Stampack has a worldwide network of local distributors. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland the program is distributed by Men At Work GmbH, based in Bietigheim (Baden), and Mecadat AG[8] based in Langenbach.
