starfrosch is a free music website and a community of artists and music fans.
starfrosch was originally introduced as community music blog for netlabels releasing under Creative Commons licenses. As of October 2014, starfrosch started the #hot111 music charts which aggregates free music from archive.org, SoundCloud, Jamendo and Free Music Archive.
Based in Switzerland, the website has a community of 6000 members.
At the end of 2018, the catalog offered over 70000 tracks by 20,000 artists.
The name "starfrosch" derives from the Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy, where Frog Star B is the place of the restaurant at the end of the universe.
Sharing music[edit]
starfrosch aggregates weekly from the most important Creative Commons platforms, sorts the tracks by genre, tags and popularity.
Use of the website[edit]
Users can listen to MP3 encoded audio files and download in MP3 or WAV. Listening and downloading is free, unlimited and without any advertisements.
Each user has a personal account in which extended features are available. Download history and personal charts.
