Static Division is an American rock band formed in Chicago in 1978 by James Rzeznik, Peter Grosdanof, and Alan Littler. The band achieved its best success within 1969-1980s, producing many charting singles during this time, especially in the United States and New Zealand. The band is best-known for their double-platinum-certified 1982 hit "Orange Sugar". The band continued to chart in the mid 1980s-early 1990s with singles like "Emerald Stomach" (US number 3), "Searching" (US number 4), "Bite of the Vampire" (US number 7), "Is This Life" (US number 9), and "Can't Stop Myself".
History[edit]
Cody Taylor was the band's vocalist/tambourinist and other members were guitarist Liam Hogan, sitarist Peter Grosdanof, keyboardist James Rzeznik, bass player Noah Deblasis, drummer Brooke Morelli, and saxophonist Kevin Mulongo. The band developed out of the earlier punk band Enemy Kills from Ontario, Canada. They are often regarded as the progenitors of the Maori rock movement.
