Steve Moore[edit]

Steve Moore (born February 24, 1969) known as The Mad Drummer[1], is an American musician, entertainer, and former drummer of the band Rick K. and the Allnighters. Moore is most critically acclaimed for the YouTube video "This Drummer is At The Wrong Gig", which went viral, receiving over 1 million views in four days, and over 50,000,000 views to date. [2] Moore departed from Rick K. and the Allnighters in December 2019.[3]

Early Life[edit]

Steve Moore was born Steven Lee Moore on February 24, 1969[4] to David Lee Moore and Karen (Sue) Moore, in Elkins, West Virginia. Steve's parents were local business owners. Sue worked as a CNR and medical secretary as well.[1]

This Drummer is at the Wrong Gig[edit]

In 2008, a random fan videotaped the band's cover performance of the ZZ Top song, "Sharp Dressed Man", and uploaded it to YouTube. In 2010, Moore was suddenly catapulted to fame when another fan changed the name of the video to "This Drummer is At the Wrong Gig". Within four days, the YouTube video went viral, receiving over a million views in four days. It has been viewed over 50,000,000 times to date (as of October 7, 2021), placing Moore in the national and international spotlight.[5]

National and International Recognition[edit]

Moore has made numerous appearances as The Mad Drummer, including NBC's "The Office", [6]playing a local weatherman who has a drum battle with the character Kevin Malone, played by actor, (Brian Baumgartner), and showcased on The Bio Channel. In addition, Moore was featured in an Advil advertisement. Moore has been recognized internationally, performing in Kursk City, Russia, televised to more than 500,000 citizens, and interviewed by Evgeniya Kalinin on radio station Petpo FM 105.4. [7] Steve performed on "TV TOTAL with Stefan Raab", Germany's #1 Late Night Talk Show, along with "The Heavytones". In addition, Moore performed at "The Adams Drummer Festival" in Belgium, along with Benny Greb, Mark Schulman, Keith Carlock, and Thomas Lang, closing the show with drummer Mike Portnoy. [5]

Moore was recognized by Yahoo, Modern Drummer, DRUM Magazine, and Tosh. O., and named NME Magazine's #1 Most Underrated Drummer in Rock, July, 2012.[8]
