Steven Edwards (born 20 May 1986) is a British chef and restaurateur.[1] He is the founder of etch. and Steven Edwards @The Bingham Riverhouse restaurants.[2] Edwards is best known for winning the 6th series of MasterChef: The Professionals in 2013.[3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Edwards grew up in Windsor, Berkshire. He studied at Dedworth Middle School and The Windsor Boys School. He left school in 2003 to start an apprentice job at Burnham Beeches Hotel in Buckinghamshire. During his time there, Edwards also did a year-long course at the first Corus chefs school academy.

Career[edit]

After 4 years honing his skills in award winning restaurants, Edwards joined the pass restaurant in 2008 as a Chef de Partie.[6] During his time there, Edwards worked under Michelin starred chef Matt Gillan. Soon he was promoted to Sous chef and then Head Chef of Camellia in 2010. After six years of working at South Lodge Hotel, Edwards left to start his restaurant - etch.[7][8]

During his career, Edwards has worked alongside several chefs including Raymond Blanc, Andrew McNaughton and Chris Wheeler.[9][10][11]

In 2016, Edwards established etch. in Brighton & Hove.[12][13] Since its inception etch. has been awarded 3 AA Rosettes, a Michelin Plate award and has been featured in national press.[14] In 2020, he opened his second restaurant - Steven Edwards @ The Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond.[15][16]
