Matt Hermer
Matt Hermer is a British entrepreneur, founder and CEO of the Ignite Group, a London-based company with a portfolio of bars, clubs, and restaurants.
Matt Hermer is the youngest of the four children of Julius Hermer, a lawyer and former Lord Mayor of Cardiff.[1] Hermer graduated from the University of Reading.[1]
After a decade working in the finance industry, Hermer bought his local bar on Walton Street, renaming it Eclipse, and entered the Food & Beverage industry, founding the Ignite Group.[1] In 2002, following a roll-out of a number of Eclipse cocktail bars in West London, Ignite Group opened Boujis, the group’s flagship boutique nightclub. Hermer steered Ignite Group into the culinary sector, expanding the F&B portfolio with a chain of Bumpkin restaurants.[citation needed]
In 2009 Ignite opened an Eclipse outlet in the Barcelona W Hotel, Starwood’s luxury boutique lifestyle brand, and in February 2011, launched Wyld, a VIP nightclub, W Lounge, and a VIP screening room in the W Hotel Leicester Square.[2] In October 2012 he opened Boujis in Hong Kong[3]and in November 2013 Boujis Barcelona. Last year, Matt also opened the doors to Bumpkin Chelsea in June.
In 2013 Hermer became non-executive Chairman of La Bottega, an Italian delicatessen chain based in London.[4]
Matt Hermer was named "Restaurateur of the Year" in 2008 at Tatler's Annual Award Ceremony,[5] and the Evening Standard listed Hermer among London socialites in 2008 and 2009.[6][7]
Matt lives in Chelsea, London, with his wife, Marissa Hermer, and their two children.[8]
