Sujata Parashar (Born 1975) is an award-winning Indian author. Based in Delhi, Sujata published her first novel In Pursuit of Infidelity in 2009[2][3]. The latest, a non-fiction work titled, Going Solo – Raising Happy Kids[4][5] is a handbook on single parenting. The book is based on her personal experience (and professional knowledge) of raising a son as a single parent. Parashar is the founder of a talk-therapy based platform, Talk-it-Out-Express, to promote emotional health.

Biography

Born in Roorkee (Uttar Pradesh) on 03 June 1975, Sujata studied at various central schools across the country.

In the past 18 years, Sujata has worked in some of the most prestigious names in the social development sector as a social worker, psychosocial trainer and talk-therapist. She is also an ex-founder member of a Delhi based NGO, Empowering Minds Society for Research and Development. In 2019 she initiated her own platform The-Talk-it-Out- Express (TiOE) – a platform to enhance emotional health and emotional wellbeing.[6][7] She’s also a member of the WICCI Arts Leadership Council – Delhi Chapter Link.[8]

In 2009 Sujata released her first novel, In Pursuit of Infidelity[9] (Rupa & Co), which was declared an instant bestseller. Her second novel – ‘In Pursuit of Ecstasy,’[10] (Rupa & Co., 2011) studies the youth-parent relationship in modern times. The book was long-listed for the Economic Crossword book award in 2012. The third in her ‘pursuit’ series, ‘In Pursuit of a Lesser Offence,’[11] focuses on the relevance of the institution of marriage (Alchemy publishers, 2014). It was endorsed by Shaadi.com - World's no.1 match-making site.[12]

She has written 12 books to date with her socio-political thriller, The Temple Bar Woman (Vishwakarma Publications)[13][14] winning a couple of prestigious literary awards.

Sujata[15] has also brought out a poetry book series titled Poetry Out and Loud, POAL - I and POAL - II. Her first poetry book was released in 2011 in her alma mater St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur followed by the release of POAL – II in 2013. The third in the series POAL – III was released at the Pune International Literature Festival 2014[16]. She's also contributed to multiple national and international poetry and short story anthologies.[17] She is a member of Asia Pacific Writers and Translators since 2014.
