Susan Rebecca Cooper is an American producer, director, and longtime Executive Producer and Vice President of Saban Entertainment. She is best known for the romantic drama The Vow and the Emmy Award-winning documentaries "Unchained: The Untold Story of Freestyle MotoCross" and "Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau" (part of ESPN's 30 for 30 series).

From 1991-2002 Cooper served as Executive Producer and Vice President for Saban Entertainment where she produced over 40 television movies and feature films. She was also instrumental in acquisition and programming for the newly-formed Fox Family Channel in the late 1990s.[1] In 2001, as Executive Producer, she won a Literacy in Media Award (2001) for Enslavement: The True Story of Fanny Kemble, based on the true story of British actress who spoke out against slavery after moving to a plantation with her American husband.[2] Another early project was the holiday short Kathie Lee's Rock n' Tots Cafe: A Christmas Giff starring Kathie Lee Gifford.[3]

After leaving Saban, she became Executive Producer of Taublieb Films alongside her husband Paul Taublieb. There she served as Executive Producer for the blockbuster romantic drama The Vow, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. It grossed almost $200M at the box office and is the eighth highest-grossing romantic drama since the 1980s.[4]

Cooper won a 2014 Emmy Award for Best Sports Documentary for producing “Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau,” an installment of ESPN's 30 for 30 series about the life and dramatic disappearance of the beloved big wave surfer and Hawaiian icon.[5] Two years later, Cooper collected her second Emmy for Outstanding Long Sports Documentary for producing the Netflix film Unchained: The Untold Story of Freestyle Motocross.[6] Most recently, she served as Director and Producer of Blood Line: The Brian Deegan Story about the most decorated Freestyle Motocross rider in history.[7]

Cooper also has spent more than fifteen years studying child behavior and development, with a special focus on developmental and behavioral challenges. She has over 3,000 hours of training in floor-time therapies like those pioneered by psychiatrist Stanley Greenspan.[8]

Alongside June Salin, Cooper co-created Manadoob, a series of illustrated novels, workbooks, and games that promote social and emotional learning for young people. This innovative program helps children build their self-esteem while also improving their reading and writing skills.[9] Cooper is the co-author of co-author of "Manadoob Guide to the Moobia Stones," a novel for young people exploring the secret connection between children and animals.[10] In addition creating content, Cooper is a partner in Cooper is a partner in Sadiki, LLC, the company that owns Manadoob.

Personal life[edit]

Susan studied Communications at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated summa cum laude. She and her husband Paul Taublieb live in Malibu and have three sons, Zev, Ari, and Noah Taublieb.
