Sushanta Chowdhury (born 25 August 1979) is a young Indian politician belongs to the Bharatiya Janta Party.[1] He is currently serving as Minister of Information & Cultural Affairs, Sports & Youth Affairs, Public Works Department (DWS) in Government of Tripura.[2] [3]
Shri Sushanta Chowdhury has defeated a very influential communist leader Mr. Manik Dey, the then Power & Transport Minister of Tripura.[4] Shri Sushanta Chowdhury is a very popular face in BJP also is considered a close associate of present Chief Minister Shri Biplab Kumar Deb.
The Bharatiya Janta Party won the 2018 Tripura assembly election with a full majority.
Education
Shri Sushanta Chowdhury has done BBA from the Guwahati University and thereafter, Diploma in Information Technology in the Year 2004 from Sikkim Manipal University.

Oath taking ceremony
Shri Sushanta Chowdhury took oath as a cabinet minister in the Tripura government led by Shri Biplab Kumar Deb on August 31, 2021. He has been allotted key departments like Information & Cultural Affairs, Youth & Sports Affairs, and Public Works Department (DWS). The information & Cultural Affairs department was earlier held by the Chief Minister himself. Many in the party believe that Shri Chowdhury was a surprise pick by the Chief Minister of Tripura Shri Biplab Kumar Deb. Shri Chowdhury is well educated and has good administrative experience.
Former Tripura BJP vice president Ram Prasad Paul, northern Tripura leader Bhagaban Chandra Das, all new faces, also took oath as new ministers in the first-ever Cabinet expansion in the three-and-a-half-year-old BJP led alliance ministry.
