Swiggy is an Indian restaurant search and discovery service launched in 2014. It is the country's largest food delivery service.[1][2]

Operation[edit]

Swiggy partners with restaurants, and the ordering can be done on their website or with a smartphone/tablet application (iOS and Android). The website claims an average delivery time of 35 minutes. Swiggy also partners with restaurants to provide kitchen space in areas where those restaurants are currently not present so that consumers can order food in these areas as well.[3][4][5] Swiggy has its own fleet of delivery personnel for order pick up enabling them to offer their customers several convenient features like live tracking of orders, no restrictions on minimum order quantities, and multiple online payment options.[6] With its pan-India presence and in terms of orders delivered.[7][8]


Swiggy launched Swiggy Super and Super Delight, premium serivces for customers, offering unlimited free delivery and free desserts or beverages at selected partners.[9] [10]

Partnerships & acquisitions[edit]

Swiggy partnered with hamburger chain Burger King for food ordering and delivery service.[11] Swiggy also partnered with Google’s Local Guide program to help its users explore restaurants in India and offer perks to Google Maps reviewers.[12] Swiggy has partnered with Sodexo to allow customers to pay through Sodexo meal cards.[13] Swiggy has also tied up with business loan provider Indifi Technologies to provide collateral-free loans without initial deposits to its restaurant partners.[14]

In December 2017, Swiggy acquired Bengaluru-based gourmet Asian food startup 48East.[15]
