Sydney Seed Fund is a technology investment fund based in Sydney, Australia. Upon foundation, the fund raised $1.9 million for the eight-year investment period,[1] with the aim to invest about $48,000 to $144,000 in 20 early-stage Australian tech start-up companies.[2]

History[edit]

Founded in 2013 by Right Click Capital general partners Benjamin Chong,[3] Ari Klinger and serial angel investor, Garry Visontay, the inaugural Sydney Seed Fund seeks to invest $100,000 in 20 companies.[4][5] The fund focuses of young, high-growth Internet and technology companies that are less than 18 months old and that have growth potential.[2][6][7]

Activities[edit]

In May 2013, the fund announced an investment in 20 tech start-ups companies over the next two to three years. According to the officials, each investment company will receive $50,000 to $150,000,[8] a total of $US 1.8 million.[9]

In September 2013, the Sydney Seed Fund, alongside Grand Prix Capital, and the Founder Institute, supported Australian Graduate School of Management's 12-week initiative program, during which MBA students from the AGSM at UNSW Australia partnered with start-up companies, immersing the student in an entrepreneurial business.[10]

Advisory board[edit]

The firm is advised by a board of investors including Jeffrey Paine (Golden Gate Ventures), Adeo Ressi (Founder Institute), David Siemer (Siemer & Associates) and Fadi Bishara (Sinbad Ventures).[6]
