Synnex Australia is an Australian IT company that provides aggregation for professional services, hardware, software and cloud services[3]. It was founded in 1997 through a merger between Mitac Australasia and Synnex Technology International Corp.[4], which now controls the company[5]
Synnex is one of Australia's largest IT distributors, and as of 2012 its parent company was the largest IT distribution company in the Asia Pacific and ranked third worldwide.[6] It has over 7000 resellers.[7]
In 2014 the company built an automated distribution centre in Sydney. It started construction on a second facility in 2020 (due to open in 2021 at a cost of AU$29 million).[8]
Synnex Australia launched a Cloud Automation Platform in 2016, allowing organisations to provision, manage cloud and hardware products.[9]
Although not directly involving Synnex Australia, Synnex's parent company Synnex Technology International Corp. bought Sydney-based app developer Tigerspike in 2017.[10]
In 2018, Synnex Australia launched a managed service finance package to allow bundle hardware, software licensing, cloud and professional services to be presented in a single bill to its partners.[11]
In July 2020, Synnex Australia purchased 44,000 sqm of land in South Oakleigh in Melbourne to build an automated third distribution centre at a cost of AU$95 million, planned for completion in 2023, to provide an additional 65% of storage[8]. The site was originally owned by German supermarket company Kaufland, and was sold after Kaufland announced it was exiting the Australian market.[12] The new site will bring total storage to 62,200 sqm, and will include a 29.3 m high automated storage and retrieval system operated by dedicated data analytics software.[13]
