T. P. Muhammad Kunhi (16 December 1932 - 23 February 2013) was a professor, educationalist and social activist from Taliparamba in Kerala state, India.
Early life[edit]
Muhammad Kunhi was born as the second child of S.K.P.Abdul Khader and T.P.Nafeesa Hajjumma in Kavvayi village, Payyanur. His father Abdul Khader was a member of the Sayintakath Kolachikandi Purayil family from Valapattanam who worked as the manager of Subulussalam Trust in Valapattanam. His mother Thayyil Padinhare Purayil Nafeesa Hajumma was a herbal physician. He was educated at Farook College Calicut and Presidency College Madras.
Career[edit]
Kunhi began his teaching career in 1955 as a lecturer in Osmania College, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Later, he worked in Farook College, Calicut[1] from 1956 to 1965. After that, he worked as Principal of M.E.S .College, Mampad and also as Principal of EMEA College of Arts and Science, Kondotty from 1982 to 1985.[2][3] He retired in 1986 as the Principal at Sir Syed College (Taliparamba).[4]
Ahievements[edit]
Kunhi was a member of the Board of Studies, University of Calicut for two terms and a member of the Senate of the same university for one term. He also served in the Board of Studies at Mahathma Gandhi University, Kottayam. He also served in the General Council of the Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur.[5] He also served as the Vice-President of All Kerala Private College Teachers' Association or AKPCTA.[6]
