TDCX is a global business process outsourcing company headquartered in Singapore[1]. Founded in 1995, the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, before being taken private in 2024.[2] The company offers services such as customer experience (CX) solutions, sales and digital marketing services, and content moderation.[1]

History

Background and formation

TDCX was founded in 1995 by Laurent Junique in Singapore as Teledirect Telecommerce, a telemarketing company that offered telemarketing, and outsourced call center that handled calls, emails and faxes for a variety of clients.[3]

The company's eventual rebrand is recounted in the Form F-1 registration statement, which TDCX filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in September 2021.[4]

In 1997, WPP Singapore Pte Ltd, part of the WPP plc group, a London public company providing communications and advertising services globally, invested in Teledirect Pte Ltd by acquiring 40% of its shares.[4]

Following that, TDCX Holdings, initially known as Oasix Pte Ltd., was incorporated as a private company limited by shares under the Companies Act, Chapter 50 of Singapore in 1999, before changing its name to Agorae Pte Ltd in May 2001.[4]

In September 2018, Agorae Pte Ltd acquired the 40% of issued share capital of Teledirect Pte Ltd held by WPP Singapore Pte Ltd. As a result of Junique reducing his 60% equity interest in the company through a cancellation of his shares, Teledirect Pte Ltd became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Agorae Pte Ltd in January 2019.[4]

On December 3, 2019, Agorae Pte Ltd changed its name to TDCX Holdings Pte. Ltd, and on December 4, 2019, Teledirect Pte Ltd changed its name to TDCX (SG) Pte. Ltd, marking a rebrand that aimed to signify a shift towards broader digital customer experience solutions.[5]

Milestones and expansion

After its start as a telemarketing company, TDCX expanded its list of services from the 2000s to the 2010s. These services include omnichannel CX solutions, sales and digital marketing, content monitoring and moderation, workspace and payroll services, tech support, e-commerce, revenue generation, and more for high-growth industries.

During this time, TDCX also expanded its global footprint, opening offices in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Mainland China, India, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Spain, Romania, Brazil, and Colombia.

In 2021, TDCX went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) with an initial public offering (IPO) of US$18 per American Depositary Shares (ADS) in an offer of 19.4 million ADS, with gross proceeds from the IPO coming to US$348.5 million.[6] However, in 2024, the company was subsequently taken private once more by founder Junique.[7] This move, completed in a deal valuing the company at just over US$1 billion, was done in an effort to enable greater flexibility for its investment in AI initiatives and global expansion.[8]

The company announced the launch of its Digital Customer Experience Center of Excellence in Singapore to pioneer new CX Solutions in 2023.[9]

In 2025, TDCX acquired U.S.-headquartered Open Access BPO[10] to further its growth, as well as data labeling and annotation services platform SUPA[11] as part of its AI-forward measures. The company also launched its "Enable the Future" rebranding centered on AI.[12]

During this year, TDCX also invested in TalentPop, a California-based digital customer experience (CX) management company. This partnership was formed with the aim to provide US-based clients access to better automation capabilities, CX analytics, and AI integration, while reaffirming TDCX's presence in the United States.[13]
